Jodi's pic2RTCO volunteers recently had the opportunity to work with Mr. S.  He is an Army Veteran that served our county for 3 years during the Korean War.  He has always been a hardworking man and worked many years at South Texas Drywall to support his 8 children.

He and his wife have lived in their home since 1993. Their home is on the west side of Columbus and is where he plans to spend his retirement. They enjoy visiting Buckeye Lake where they fish and visit all of their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

With the help of AEP volunteers we are able to provide some repairs that will keep them safe.

To the right is a picture of a half step that was installed at Mr. S’s home.  It is typically installed on an exterior door, when the step is too deep for a person with a mobility issue to maneuver.

By building a box with a 2”x 4” board and decking planks, then anchoring it to the step with concrete anchors and installing a short handrail, you will create a much safer egress with little expense.
